First Autumn Photography Of The Year

1 min read

Recently I visited my local woodland for my first autumn/fall photography session of the year.

We had a very hot, dry summer in Ireland this year, resulting in a lot of changes in nature.

Due to a lack of rainfall, leaves prematurely dried and became fragile on the branches meaning that many trees shed their leaves early.

Trees that have not yet lost their leaves are not displaying the vivid autumn colours that we come to expect, instead many of them are a dull green/brown colour with no visible oranges and yellows.

On the plus side, mushrooms are growing in abundance and the woodland floor is alive with autumn stories – leaves, chestnuts, beechnut shells – all competing for attention.

Looking for naturally occurring compositions on the understory of a woodland is a great way to enjoy photography.

Here is a mini gallery of the first autumn images of the year.

Although I may not have captured great images, I know that it is still early in the season and I have other locations to visit so I hope to enjoy much more autumn photography this year.
