Seeing Differently: Monochrome Mornings Day 2

This is the second part of my summer series of monochrome photography, shot during early mornings in my local area.
For this part of the series, I concentrated on trying something new to me – high contrast black and white. While the resulting images may not be fantastic, I learned a lot about black and white photography through the process, gaining some knowledge about what works and what doesn’t work. I experimented with different subjects, different angles, and with different qualities of light ranging from harsh to diffused on the same morning.
I challenged myself to find all the high contrast images in nature.
Here are some of the results.
Part 2: Experimenting With High Contrast Black and White in Nature

In part 3 of the series I will reflect on what I have learned and how to improve my black and white photography.

I like the idea of treating a photo series as an experiment rather than expecting every frame to be perfect. High-contrast black and white can completely change how you notice shapes, shadows, and tiny details in nature, so trying different angles and lighting on the same morning sounds like a great exercise. Sometimes the “failed” shots are actually the ones that teach you what your eye is looking for. It makes me want to slow down and notice things differently before taking a break with quick win.
